Helmut Marko Calls Valtteri Bottas “A Loser”
In 2021, whenever Valtteri Bottas had a poor qualifying session or was forced to start lower due to grid penalties, he would often get stuck behind other cars. This especially hurt Mercedes and Lewis Hamilton in the season finale as Bottas was stuck in the midfield, restricting the strategic options available to his team. Maybe Ferrari will take another step and win one or two races” He then praised his driver Sergio Perez despite his shortcomings in qualifying “He has made himself legendary in the fight against Hamilton. For us it is clear that he is currently not a driver who can match Verstappen in qualifying, but then you need someone who is not broken by that” He then compared Perez to Bottas “That is the big difference between Perez and Bottas, who is a loser when it comes to overtaking. He’s super-fast, but he can’t overtake in traffic” Bottas managed to finish 3rd in the championship while Perez had to settle for fourth which ultimately proved decisive in the Constructors’ Championship. Marko addressed this next “If you start ninth or 11th, all the qualities Perez undoubtedly has in the race won’t help you. He’s driven at the same level as Verstappen in a number of races, [but] it just fizzles out by the time you’re through [the field]” He signed off by reiterating that Perez does not buckle under pressure “We needed someone who won’t break [under pressure] and that has happened with Perez” Fast Feed Williams driver Alex Albon has reveals that the “bond [between Red Bull’s Max Verstappen and his race engineer Gianpiero Lambiase] is impressive” [Formule1] “Max and Gianpiero rarely talk about details because they understand each other so well” During a race weekend, it is not necessary for them to talk for hours about setups of the car. Sometimes they even have the car in order after ten or fifteen minutes” F1 CEO Stefano Domenicali stated that “in 2021 the interest was huge thanks to Max and Lewis. But I also hope that other drivers can get involved in the fight for the title” [Autobild] “We have so many young and talented drivers at the moment, an extremely strong field” “So, the focus right now is whether the new cars will enable more drivers to fight for victories and the title” Retired F1 driver Felipe Massa has suggested that “Ferrari’s best years were with [Michael] Schumacher, then 2006, 2007, 2008” [Motorsport-Magazin] “After 2009, Ferrari was no longer the team of the hour. There have been many changes and it is important to keep a cool head. That is difficult at Ferrari” “Ferrari’s problem is not a driver problem, it’s a car problem, a team problem. Sainz and Leclerc form a very important driver pairing” Alpine’s Ferando Alonso has explained that “the new regulations were too restricted at the beginning” [GP Fans] “So, there were a lot of clarifications of what we can do and what we couldn't do with the FIA. It was a strange new project for everybody” Retired F1 driver Mark Webber feels that “there has to be a way to get the best drivers onto the F1 grid. ¡Vaya temporada de #Formula1 hemos vivido en 2021! Pero se supone que la de este año va a ser aún mejor, con coches nuevos, más igualdad, más adelantamientos, más pilotos luchando por la victoria y… ¡más GG.PP. que nunca! Nada menos que 23. Además, aunque afortunadamente las cosas han cambiado, el riesgo, los accidentes y el drama han sido una parte indisoluble a las carreras de coches y de #F1 desde sus comienzos. Y eso, quieras que no, colabora a crear mitos. Esto es indiscutible. Hamilton estará. Os invito a que oigáis el Podcast del lunes 17 titulado “La retirada de Hamilton”. Hamilton ha guardado silencio y ha dejado entrever que podría no seguir. Incluso Bernnie Ecclestone dijo que no seguiría. Pero estoy seguro que va a seguir. ¿Por qué? Porque un pilotazo como él no puede dejar su carrera deportiva saliendo por la puerta de atrás. Junto a él estará George Russell, que estoy seguro que va no solo va a ser superior a Bottas, sino que va a poner en aprietos al propio Hamilton. Ya lo demostró. Bottas pasa a Alfa Romeo en lugar de Raikkonen que lo deja, vuelve Alexander Albon a Williams y la mayor novedad es que por primera vez habrá un piloto chino, Guanyu Zhou, que será compañero de Bottas… el equipo de Alfa Romeo resulta bastante “peculiar”. Los pilotos españoles siguen en sus equipos, aunque ahora por un lado lo tienen mejor, no van de segundones, pero tienen más tensión, sobre todo Carlos, que nunca ha ganado una carrera de F1… y ya es hora. También Sergio Pérez se ha ganado su continuidad en Red Bull. 23 grandes Premios. La temporada comenzará el 20 de marzo en GP de Sakhir (Baréin) y acabará el 20 de noviembre en Abu Dhabi. No solo será la más larga de la historia de la F1, sino la más apretada. Habrá carreras un fin de semana sí y otro no, e incluso en ocasiones un fin de semana sí y otro también. ¿Por qué tantas carreras? Pues ya que estamos con el “chip” histórico, el motivo ya lo decía el escritor y poeta Francisco de Quevedo en el S.XVI… “Poderoso caballero en Don dinero”. No olvidemos que los derechos de la F1 los compra la empresa Liberty Media por nada menos que 7.117 millones de euros… una “propina”. Y hay que amortizar la inversión. Los coches, el gran cambio. ¿Cuál es le mayor cambio en la F1 de 2022? Hasta claro, la aerodinámica. Ya hicimos un vídeo sobre el reglamento 2022 que titulamos: “Reglamento F1 2022, ¿la salvación?”. Ahí tienes los detalles técnicos, hoy vamos a centrarnos en como pueden influir en las carreras. Los F1 de 2022 vuelve al efecto suelo que inauguró el Lotus 78 y que luego fue prohibido. ¿Por qué se prohibió? Por peligroso. ¿Por qué vuelve? Para facilitar los adelantamientos… y por seguridad. Lógicamente, esto requiere una explicación. En los nuevos coches llega un efecto suelo menos salvaje y se reducen los alerones, con lo cual generan menos aire sucio. Según las pruebas teóricas de la FIA se supone que en 2021 un coche que seguía a otro perdía el 45 por ciento de su apoyo aerodinámico y los coches de 2022 solo un 15 por ciento…. Habrá que ver. La FIA no se fía. Pero la propia Federación Internacional del Automóvil, la FIA, no se fía de si misma. Os invito a ver el vídeo de “¡Maldito DRS!” para que entendáis porqué somos tantos los que pedimos que, por favor, se deje de utilizar el DRS. Por eso la FIA se deja esa posibilidad en la manga: Prohibirá el DRS si ve que no es necesario. ¿Cómo será la conducción? Se supone que los coches 2022 serán más lentos que los del 2021, pero no mucho más. Pero también se supone que serán más nerviosos al límite, veremos más cruzadas y trompos. ¿Cómo serán las carreras? Distintas. Primero, porque los propios coches cambian mucho. Y, sobre todo, porque se supone que veremos carreras más emocionantes, con menos cabalgadas en solitario y menos diferencias entre los equipos. Si queréis saber lo que de verdad opino es que creo que de verdad va a ser así, este reglamento en mi MODESTA opinión da pasos en el buen camino, aunque quizás se den pocos pasos o más cortos de lo que a algunos nos gustaría. Y otra cosa: Con menos diferencias en pista, la estrategia cobra aún mayor importancia, pues ganar unos segundos o perderlos, será más importante. Quedan incógnitas, para mi la mayor los neumáticos, pero no solo esa. Por ejemplo, ¿el motor Mercedes seguirá siendo tan superior? ¿Conseguirá Red Bull competir en velocidad punta con Mercedes? ¿Por fin los Ferrari no castigarán tanto sus neumáticos? ¿Conseguirá Alpine dar el salto adelante que todos esperamos? Bueno, esto es lo bueno de la F1: Todo puede pasar… Coche del día Lo siento, me voy a ir por las ramas. Voy a elegir un coche de Slot como coche del día.
