Gazi Koşusu'nda zaferin adı Urfa Aslanı oldu Ulu Önderimiz Gazi Mustafa Kemal Atatürk adına 1927 yılından bu yana kesintisiz olarak gerçekleştirilen Gazi Koşusu 25 Haziran Pazar günü saat 17.15'te 97. kez start aldı. Türk Atçılığı'nın derbisi Gazi Koşusu'nun heyecanı, İstanbul İlkbahar - Yaz sezonunun 33. yarış gününde, Cumhuriyetimizin 100. yılında 97. kez yaşandı. 3 yaşlı safkan İngiliz taylarının en önemli sınavı 2400 metre mesafe üzerinden çim pistte koşuldu. 97. Gazi Koşusu'nda, Selim Kaya'nın sahibi olduğu Urfa Aslanı (Approve - Waimaria / High Chaparral) jokeyi Mehmet Kaya idaresinde 2.30.35'lik dereceyle zafere uzandı. Kaya Atçılık Ltd. Şti. yetiştirmesi, Velat Karakuş'un antrene ettiği tay yarışçılığımız için büyük önem arz eden bu mücadelede zafere uzanarak kariyerinin ilk Grup koşu galibiyetini kazanırken, toplamda 5. birinciliğini elde etti. Kazanan safkanın jokeyi Mehmet Kaya da elde ettiği neticeyle kariyerinin ilk Gazi Koşusu zaferini yaşamış oldu. 17'si erkek, 5'i dişi olmak üzere toplam 22 tayın start aldığı yarışta mücadelenin ikincisi Ayhan Kurşun idaresindeki Qualizto (Torok - Arwa / Bin Ajwaad) olurken, Chaika (Marcavelly - Queen Regent / Medaglia D'Oro) jokeyi Vedat Abiş ile üçüncü oldu. Müslüm Çelik ile start alan Moonlight Fairy (Graystorm - Ay İncisi / Kaneko) dördüncü sırada yer alırken, Native Power (Native Khan - Unity / Sadler's Wells) Akın Sözen idaresinde beşinci oldu. Yarışın ardından Winner Circle Alanı'nda düzenlenen törende, kazanan safkanın sahibi Selim Kaya'ya kupasını Tarım ve Orman Bakanlığı Bakan Yardımcısı ve Yüksek Komiserler Kurulu Başkanı Ebubekir Gizligider verdi. 1. Ordu Komutanı Orgeneral Ali Sivri kazanan safkanın antrenörü Velat Karakuş'a plaket takdim etti. İstanbul Büyükşehir Belediye Başkanı Ekrem İmamoğlu ise kazanan tayın jokeyi Mehmet Kaya'ya plaket verdi. Törene Kulübümüz Başkanı Serdal Adalı, Yüksek Komiserler Kurulu Genel Koordinatörü Murat Birol Kayim, Genel Sekreterimiz Ahmet Özbelge, Genel Saymanımız Adil Mert Kaya, Yönetim Kurulu Üyelerimiz Gülnur Gülerce, Tuğban İzzet Aksoy ve davetliler de katıldı.
