The Pakistan Cricket Board is a sports governing body for cricket in Pakistan responsible for controlling and organising all tours and matches undertaken by the Pakistan national cricket team. A member of the International Cricket Council since 1952, it represents the country's national teams for men's and women's in the international cricket tournaments playing under the ICC.Following the establishment of Pakistan as an independent dominion of the British Empire in 1947, professional and amateur cricket commenced in the same year, seeing as local infrastructure had already been established when the country was part of the British Raj.

The Pakistan cricket spot-fixing scandal was a sports scandal centering on certain members of Pakistan's national cricket team, who were convicted of taking bribes from a bookmaker, Mazhar Majeed, to deliberately underperform at certain pre-arranged moments during a Test match between England and Pakistan at Lord's, London, in August 2010. Undercover reporters from News of the World secretly videotaped Mazhar Majeed accepting money and informing the reporters that Pakistani fast bowlers Asif and Amir would deliberately bowl no-balls at specific points during the game.

They also played two three-day matches against Somerset and Sussex prior to the Test series, a two-day match against Worcestershire during the Test series, and two ODI matches against Ireland prior to the ODI series.England's ODI matches against Pakistan was the first to trial a system where the TV umpire calls the front-foot no-ball, instead of the on-field umpire.

The ODI fixtures were part of both teams' preparation for the 2019 Cricket World Cup.South Africa's Boxing Day Test was held at Centurion Park in Centurion for the first time.
